Our pipeline cathodic protection specialist has performed a pre-survey as a preparation of a thorough ECDA (external corrosion direct assessment) inspection.
The ECDA project was trusted to the Sniffers by one of the leading natural gas pipeline companies. The ECDA survey contains the following measurements in line:
- First, the pipeline is detected and visualized so the following measurements can be made directly above the pipeline to ensure the best quality of the survey results;

- The second measurement is a coating inspection, which is performed by using the DCVG method, immediately followed by a two persons CIP survey to measure the cathodic protection levels of the pipeline. Special attention is given to the indicated coating defects, by logging on at these defects for a longer period, to the earth resistance, which is measured at strategic points, and of course to the coating defects itself.
