Integration of CAD-drawings in GIS
In our Pipeline Manager system, detailed as-build CAD-drawings that give a lot of actual data of the pipeline, can be integrated.
Nowadays, all the technical drawings of pipelines are being digitalized using mainly a CAD-system. These as-build drawings contain a lot of useful information to maintain and follow up the history of the pipeline. The CAD-drawings include, besides the pipeline’s location in GPS-coordinates, information such as crossings with railroads, other pipelines, cables, valve stations, etc. Also, the markers and Cathodic Protection measuring posts are usually drawn on the CAD-drawings.
This is all a treasure of information for survey analyses and pipeline maintenance.
Thanks to our ability to integrate these CAD-drawings cost effectively into our system by geo referencing, all this data can be used in the cross checks during the analyses of the line survey results and CP-measurements. Hereby, a clearer repair and maintenance program can be developed.
The integration of technical drawings on paper is also possible in the Pipeline Manager system, after scanning and geo referencing the drawings into our system. Therefore, GPS-coordinates of local points need to be indicated on each drawing. These coordinates can already be present on the drawings or could be measured on-site by our GPS-team.
