Gas leak detection and Cathodic protection combined in one project

The Sniffers received an order to perform a gas leak detection inspection in combination with a Cathodic Protection Survey on a natural gas distribution network throughout The Netherlands.

 

On request of our customer, we designed a workflow to perform a Cathodic Protection Survey along with a gas leak detection inspection on a distribution network of natural gas and underground valves. Combining both services by our multiple disciplined operators enables us to reduce the survey costs.

 

The first step is the digitalization of the provided information in our Pipeline Management System. At this moment, we are converting this information into our software system. This enables us to perform the combined survey, using the car’s GPS along with the accurate information maps with the distribution lines and underground valves.

At the same time, a schematisation of the CP (Cathodic Protection) circuit of the complicated gas distribution pipeline is included in the order. The measurement result of the CP survey is implemented into this scheme to give a one-look overview of the different zones with CP troubles.
