Technical Pipeline Engineering

Kristof Verwaest, one of our employees has just finished the Technical Pipeline Engineering course and received his diploma.
The diploma is given by AVANS+, a part of Avans University of Applied Sciences. AVANS+ was chosen by the Pipeliner Foundation as the educational institute to facilitate the educational programme that’s focussed on development programmes for professionals and their organisations. The Technical Pipeline Engineering diploma is known and accepted as a diploma from and for the pipeline branch, and linked branches.

The way of teaching is adapted to the participants that are already working, which means, less contact hours, but more self-tuition. You get an extensive course, which you need to study at home, to solve a (problem) case that has been set up by the teachers. If you succeed to solve the case in theory (but realistic/ practical cases), you are able to solve the case in practice.

The teaching includes also on site visits, practical visits of working yards,…

The course – like already said – is set up for engineers who already work in the pipeline branch. The educational programme has the goal to create “pipeliners”, who can raise an interest with politicians and governmental management on the significance of pipeline transport as a vital contribution to the mobility of goods. The professional pipeliner shall thus also have to focus on society. Ongoing specialisation however narrows the engineers view. This educational programme will free the specialist from this solitude by adding a much broader, multidisciplinary view to his profession and preparing him for later (technical) leadership.
